Emergency Response Driving (ERD) Fire Standard consultation

Closing Date: 18/07/2025

Consultation Status: Open

Welcome to the consultation for the review of the Emergency Response Driving (ERD) Fire Standard.

The ERD Fire Standard was one of the first Fire Standards to be published in February 2021. Since its publication, the Fire Standards Board have developed a total of nineteen Fire Standards. The review of this standard was completed by a group of practitioners which form the Driver Training Advisory Group (DTAG), supported by DTAG Chair, Kevin Dell, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and NFCC Lead for Emergency Response Driver Training, Chris Else, Deputy Chief, Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

The Fire Standards Board have committed to the regular review of published Fire Standards to ensure that they remain appropriate for the benefit of the sector.

This consultation seeks to gather views about the proposed amendments to the Fire Standard, as well as the impact on those organisations who will be expected to align to it.

If you have any questions about this consultation, please contact the Fire Standards team. Many thanks for taking the time to respond, your feedback is appreciated.
